About
I’m a full-time mixed-media artist, happily married with three grown children, the most lovable dog, two cats and I work from the studio in my home in western North Carolina.
I have always been an artist - growing up on the Navajo reservation in Arizona surrounded me with amazing craftsmen and artists and a love and respect of the creative process. Home decor has always been a passion of mine and I enjoy creating things that will add a touch of beauty to your surroundings. Over the years I realized that my art was either very feminine, sensual or had a feminine theme. As I developed my digital art, I discovered that I enjoyed creating with themes that included female subjects. I have also been very interested in Women’s issues. I was raised to think that women were nothing more than servants to their husbands. That we had no reason to have dreams or goals except that of our husbands. I knew at a very young age that this was not my truth. Several years ago, I started a painting that was completely intuitive. I had no idea what it was to be about or how it would end up. The piece has two images, one of a young maiden on the lower right side of the painting, then an elderly wise women on the upper left side, in between are various paths, circles, butterflies and other images that symbolize the journey of a woman’s life. That piece spoke to me in so many ways over the years as I was dealing with my children becoming adults and moving away, my changing body, and the health issues that came with that as well as who I was now that the role of “Mom” was no longer my main focus.
I needed to embrace those changes and embrace who I was becoming.
The name Paisley Goddess came to me one day as I was staring at that painting. At the time, I was immersed in creating designs based on the paisley pattern and was having a blast seeing all the directions the Paisley design has and can go in. Much like women, who have adapted and endured so much throughout history and still supplies humankind with strength, wisdom, love and compassion as well as a fiery spirit that lifts and motivates!
My intent with this site is to support and inspire other women as they journey on their life’s path. I wish to share from a holistic perspective.
I have set up the site in categories that relate to the cycles of nature, which is also based on the Zodiac signs.
Life and nature goes through cycles and it affects all of us. For me personally, knowing of, understanding and benefiting from these cycles can be a wonderful way to grow and change.
The present cycle with its keywords and themes will be listed in the sidebar and each day a topic within that theme will be what I post about. At the end of each post a question will be asked on the topic - this can be used as a journal prompt and as always, a way to see where we are, how we feel and to promote discussion.
My wish is for you to be inspired to living true to yourself and in finding the enchantment, beauty and joy in the everyday.
