Martinis Anyone?

I have had a string of company the last few weeks and with the weather finally warming up, it has put me in a festive mood!

My last visitor and I decided to do some girly indulging and wanted to try out a new . Now, I have never been a big martini drinker with the exception of when going to a few great clubs here in town that have amazing martini menu’s. Here at home it’s either wine or margaritas. So, we found a to try out. Its an Emerald martini. (recipe below)

I then realized that I was lacking in appropriate glassware for this occasion. I only have 2 and they are plain.
Plain won’t do when you are celebrating with a festive Girls Rock event! (it must have been in the air with the new Sex and the City movie opening this past weekend!)

So, off to find and to share with you what I found -

Now, back to the recipe we tried. I wasn’t thrilled with it.  Although it was a pretty emerald green color, it was too sweet and syrupy for me.   So, we revised the recipe and created a pretty purple drink which was lighter and more enjoyable (for us that is)

Emerald :
3/4 oz. melon liqueur
3/4 oz blue curacao
1 1/2 oz. citrus-flavored vodka

Our revised recipe -we didn’t measure, it was just a splash of this and a splash of that!

Cranberry juice
Limon Izzie
melon liqueur
blue curacao
Citrus-flavored vodka

Now, back to the glasses, what is so fun about the glasses I found was that they have martini recipes on the bottom of them! And fun designs!

But, seriously, what is more , sexy fun when with some girlfriends then to make some great martini’s served in fun glasses??

Do you have a favorite you could share with me?

My inner world has been a lot like the weather these days. Warm, breezy and fine one day, then grey, cold and rainy the next. Then along comes a vicious wind storm that flings things all over the place.
But like the line in my favorite movie Moulin Rouge goes…”she made it through the wilderness, somehow she made it through”…( which is actually the song “Like a Virgin” )

I am here to say, it pays to take that inner of (not that mine is all done) and to sort through behaviors and beliefs that have been holding you back.
It is an amazing feeling to be able to see life differently and with wonder and anticipation and to feel .
It takes to fully feel .
I have been on a to find and be the authentic me, learning the true meaning of nurturing oneself and relying on the Divine within, learning to operate from the essence of who I am. ( The essence of who we really are is always whole, healthy and without fear, did you know that?)
The payoff of taking the time to do that is huge. To be who you are without fear…..isn’t that what we all desire?
In our fast-paced, over-stimulated, crazy busy culture, taking time to go within is not at the top of very many To-Do lists. But I see more folks doing this and more women doing what they need to do to find their true essence.
I’m really grateful for women like Oprah and Ellen DeGeneres who don’t shy away from exposing us all to the things that really matter so we can truly enjoy all of the other stuff!
After some time of darkness, it feels so wonderful to peek out and see the sun, in a new way, with new eyes.

I want to thank all of the amazing women in my life who held my hand and supported me in this last ‘chapter’ of my life. You all rock and I love you!!

What would your life look like if you released all self-doubt and fear?

Do You Have A Mood Buster?

Everything was going along fine. Then, what seemed to be out of no where and for no reason, it happened. My good mood turned sour and I felt sad and melancholy.
I actually felt like crying, but I really had no idea why.
Do you experience this? Are you extremely sensitive to what others are going through around you? Do you find yourself suddenly feeling a mood that seems to come out of no where and for no reason?
I think as women, we are more in tune and in touch with what those we love are feeling and many of us are extremely sensitive to what the is that is swirling around us.
I would get bogged down for days when this would happen. Or, if it hit, I would conjure up reasons as to why and end up creating a story that wasn’t really there (usually blaming my spouse for something!)
And, as women, if we are sensitive, we are so use to blaming it on hormones (and society is so programmed to roll their eyes at us and say “oh, it must be THAT time for her!”)
Don’t you hate that? I do.

It has been so nice to finally see that even when attacked with the crazy “moods” or fall of my mood, that I can control what is going on.
Enter, “The ”.
For those of us , who like me, are ‘water’ people (Cancer’s, Scorpio’s and Pisces) and tend to be more emotional, it is too easy to get stuck in an emotional cloud that rules our thinking.
We need to have things that we can do or be around that is more logical and so we can snap out of that sour mood and get back to business!
Three of my mood busters are my kids - they each have their own style of viewing things but none of them are ‘water’ so they are more practical and help me get . Just a phone call to one of them can snap me out of a funk!
The other things I do are to get into my body and out of my thoughts. Putting on some lively music and dancing helps, going on a long walk or to tackle a small deep cleaning project. Anything that can get a sweat going, your heartbeat up and get you feeling in tune with your body.
For those of you who like to garden, that is a great way to tap into the earth (literally) and feel more .
When we recognize that we are affected by so many thoughts and feelings of those around us, whether it is of co-workers, family or friends, neighbors or even the feelings of mass consciousness, we can better see that many times what we are feeling doesn’t even belong to us!
This is an element of bringing out your inner goddess/divine feminine.
You learn to practice mastery of your moods (mastery, not denial!) One of the reasons that this is so important is that if we let the mood storms engulf us, we can lose our focus (how many times have you had an idea, then got hit with the feelings that it wouldn’t work or that no one would care?) and then lose the needed to carry out our ideas and inspirations.
Women tend to carry the mood of what is going on around them. And if we allow the mood to lessen our confidence, which is what happens many times, then we end up backing off of an idea or feeling we shouldn’t really be doing something that we are desiring to do.
It can be hard to snap out of it, but learning to spot it and get out of it is so helpful.
As I was out walking my dog a few days ago, I kept noticing how many of my neighbors have rock displays, either on their porch or in their yards. I happen to live in a neighborhood that is very respectful and honoring of Mother Earth, so it doesn’t surprise me. But it made me think about using or as a reminder and an placed in our homes or yards, so we can use that to tap into when we are feeling ‘awash’ with a mood we don’t want to be in or are picking up from someone else.

I took a look at what one of my favorite eco-friendly places (VivaTerra – Eco Living with Style. Find natural home décor, unique women’s accessories, elegant dinnerware, organic gifts and more.
) has to offer in to use in your home.
