I want to thank everyone who participated in my Valentines Poll and who left great comments regarding their feelings about Valentines.
It is a given, I believe, that every calendar holiday will have its commercial ‘hype’ and we will be bombarded by the stuff and decor at the stores months before the holiday hits. What matters is how we feel about the holiday and how we decide to (or not to) celebrate it.
As far as Valentines goes- just as with Christmas, you can take the stance that it is a day set aside for ‘highlighting’ the special love in your life. That can be for family, friends, pets, or your significant other.
I loved what was shared in the comments and was actually surprised by the poll stats!
The number one pick on the poll was “Giving cards that say what I feel”.
Second was “Humorous-off the wall”, then “Intimate Gifts” (The shocker was that Chocolate was not picked at all!!!)
Yes, we should daily express our gratitude and love for those we care about. Some people are better at showing how they feel. I am very lucky to have a hubby who loves to cook for me and to do little things that shows his affection. We both say “I love you” a lot…but not all people are this way, so sometimes, having a day that is set aside to be able to ‘present’ someone with a token of how we feel is helpful and needed!
As women, it can sometimes feel that we are under appreciated and that we are the ones who do the “giving”. How often do we let ourselves know how much we love and appreciate ourselves?
For the month of February, I want to focus on self-love, relationships, passion and expressing our feelings.
I ended January by having an Arbonne party. The theme was self-indulgence and pampering. We soaked our feet in a scrumptious salt bath, we had three courses of fine chocolates and a red wine that complimented each one. We did a hand scrub and tried out the amazing other ’spa’ products by Arbonne.
How we treat ourselves is the most significant factor in how we will be treated by others.
I am looking forward to this month, with the focus on pink and red and passion and hearts and love……:)
